Distribution Process of Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award 2026
The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Assam will collect the list of students who have secured 80% or above marks in the Higher Secondary Examination directly from the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). Based on the official data received, the list of eligible beneficiaries will be published on the official website of DHE Assam.
Students whose names appear in the beneficiary list must complete the online application process through the official application portal within the specified period. After verifying the submitted applications, the Directorate will appoint Nodal Principals to ensure the smooth distribution of scooters.
The Nodal Principals will issue Appreciation Certificates to all eligible students. Beneficiaries must collect the certificate from their respective Nodal Principal and submit it to the authorised scooter dealer for delivery of the vehicle.
The Government of Assam will bear the expenses related to vehicle registration and insurance by releasing the required funds to the Nodal Principals. After verifying the beneficiary details, the Nodal Principals will transfer the amount directly to the authorised dealers. Therefore, students are not required to pay any registration or insurance charges while receiving their scooters.
Each eligible student will also receive a helmet free of cost along with the scooter. However, the Government will not bear the cost of any additional accessories or optional fittings.
In the unfortunate event of the death of an eligible student before receiving the scooter, the legal guardian may decide whether to claim the benefit. Students receiving the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme will not be eligible for the Nijut Moina Scheme. However, if an eligible girl student voluntarily declines the scooter benefit, she may subsequently apply for the Nijut Moina Scheme, subject to the applicable government guidelines.
